This campground is located in eastern Ohio near Zanesville. There are 183 sites – a majority of which are electric. some sites are walk-in only. The sites are paved and have a picnic table and fire ring. There is a camp store was well stocked with RV supplies, food, souvenirs, and ice cream. Firewood and ice are also avaliable. There is also a Laundromat located in the welcome center. There is good cell phone coverage (ATT and Verizon) throughout the park, and also free WIFI. There are camp hosts in 4 locations throughout the campground at sites: 1, 76, 118, and 182. There are also dedicated horse camp sites -first come first serve, non-electric. There is also a youth camp. There are 29 family cottages overlooking the lake: air conditioning, cable, gas heat, 2 bedrooms, one bath, screened porch – linens, towels, and kitchen utensils are provided. $120 per night in peak season.
General Appearance:
The campground is well-maintained but fairly basic in terms of landscaping and beautification. Aside from the paved pad area, the major portion of the campsites are grassy. The sites are moderate in size. The roads are paved and well maintained. There are 12 water spigots spread throughout the campground, no sites have water hook-ups. There is only one dumpster area near the entrance to the park – this is inconvenient for the large size of the campground.

Family/Pet Friendly
We feel like a broken record, but yet again, a state park campground with no dedicated, fenced in dog park. 😦 There are a few cabins that permit dogs with prior approval.
Camping area A sites 1-32 are NOT pet friendly. Dogs are permitted on-leash on all the trails.
There are three playgrounds that are well maintained with mulch. There is a full-court basketball area, and a disc golf course. There is an amphitheater and a sky-deck for nighttime star observation. There were several hiking trails that traversed the campground areas. There are six loop trails ranging from .75 – 6 miles. There are also 15 miles of bridle trails and mountain bike trails.
There is a swimming beach, wading pool, tennis courts, basketball courts, and picnic areas within the state park – just a short drive from the campground. There is also an archery range/sledding hill.
The lake is unlimited horsepower – 1560 acres with two boat ramps. Fishing is permitted with Ohio license. There are also kayak rentals.

There is not much to do outside of the state park area. We were here for the annual bluegrass festival – a great time if you like that type of music.

Restrooms
The restrooms and showerhouses are typical to state parks we have visited. They are adequately spread out through the campground and easily accessible: three showerhouse and four restroom facilities. The cleanliness was fairly good but they are in need of updating in our opinion. The showers were nice and hot with good water pressure and had a separate dry dressing area in each stall.
