Camp Toodik (named for a Delaware Indian medicine man) is located 1 1/2 hours northeast of Columbus and just south of Mansfield OH. Toodik is a large campground covering 93, mostly wooded, acres. It is located near Mohican State Park and in the heart of Amish country. There is a propane filling station and a well stocked camp store, that even sells beer. We purchased firewood from the camp store (bagged bundles 3 for $12.) It was good quality wood that burned well. There is also a laundry facility. There are 223 total sites and 10 cabins (some deluxe – full bath, 2 beds, and a kitchen). Some bare bones cabins are pet friendly.
Appearance:
We were pleased when driving in to the campground to find that it was very wooded. The grounds were well cared for and the landscaping was inviting. The campground had all gravel roads and most all of the sites were grass. We enjoyed having a grass site because our dogs tracked in less rocks and dirt. Had it been rainy during our stay, however, the grass site may have been less desirable (potential mud and tire ruts).
We stayed at a site on the main hill. The sites near the front were fairly close together and we noticed several campers in large units having a difficult time maneuvering into their sites. There is one post with two spouts for water that two sites share, so if you are at an even numbered site you need a long water hose. The same applies for electricity.
Farther back into the campground the sites were more spacious. There were also several sites along the river’s edge. These sites were very nice but were all booked when we reserved. They are the farthest out from the camp store and pool, however.

Activities:
This campground offers a host of activities. There is an on-site canoe livery where they take you from the campground to the canoe drop-off for a ten mile ride along the Mohican River. (2.5 hr trip $32). They have a basic putt-putt golf course, horseshoes, shuffle board, heated pool , sand volleyball, field with softball diamond, playground, some trails (although we had a hard time finding them), and arcade. During the main holiday weekends there is a snack shack that sells breakfast, lunch, and snack items.

Pet/Family Friendly:
The camp has a lot of activities for families to enjoy. In addition to the game room, pool, playgrounds putt putt etc., there are also wagon rides and special holiday activity weekends including scavenger hunts, crafts, parades, etc. You can also fish in the river with no need to purchase a license.
The campground does not have a fenced in dog park, but the campground is pet-friendly and has some pet friendly cabins.

Restrooms:
The restrooms were clean but not super modern. The showers had good water pressure but it was not overly hot. During the afternoon the hot water runs out quickly when swimmers are showering. A couple of things we found disappointing about the showers were a lack of private dressing areas and only having two stalls per bathroom. There was not a hook to hang clothes anywhere in the women’s shower area so I had to hang my clothes over the door. None of the doors to the showers or restrooms had latches. On a positive note – the toilet paper was good quality, not paper thin.

Overall:
We would return to this park. Many of the campgrounds we passed by on the way in looked like glorified parking lots. Camp Toodik was very appealing. The staff was friendly and accommodating and had lots of activities within the campground to enjoy. We also loved hiking in Mohican State Park nearby.
Which cabins are pet friendly. We have rented 7 and 8.
It has been awhile.since we stayed there. I would recommend calling the campground directly to ask about the pet policy. Enjoy your visit.
